Achim Bischoff studied law in Bonn, Freiburg and Cologne. After passing his first state law examination, he did his doctorate in the field of banking laws at the University of Cologne with Prof. Clemens Pleyer. Achim Bischoff passed his second state law examination in 1979 in Düsseldorf, and shortly thereafter started his professional law career at GRÜTER. He was admitted to the bar in 1979.
